Australian cattle man, Alan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald, having reflections of the past, revisits the scene of the 1980 death of his best friend, young bush mechanic Lennie Krause.  A coroner had delivered an open finding offering an additional possibility that the cause may have been a workplace accident. While most suspected suicide, Fitzy thought otherwise and had his suspicions. Amongst Lennie’s last possessions in his dusty workshop, Fitzy encounters items that arouse further suspicions. Could both of the coroner’s possible causes of death be wrong? Could Marion, Lennie’s girlfriend have been the cause, or at least, have something to do with his death?

The cattleman’s search for the truth takes him from outback Australia to the glitz of the Gold Coast and Queensland capital Brisbane. Here his investigations lead him to Marion’s ex-husband, Brian Jarrett, a man who has had his own issues with Marion in the past. Another man, Fitzy discovers, who is looking for answers.

Marion, over the years, has become a successful businesswoman and believes she has it all, but will she reap the rewards of her efforts, or pay a price for her past?
